Abstract
BACKGROUND: Climate changes and vector-borne diseases are global issues. Accordingly, some regions in Korea have shifted towards subtropical climate in recent years, and the incidence of patients with vector-borne diseases is gradually increasing. Thus, a threat of importation of vector-borne diseases has become a public health concern.

METHODOLOGY/RESULTS: In recent years, there has been increased effort to obtain standard bio-resources to support fundamental studies for disease vectors and to establish efficient prevention and control programs. A ¡°Study on Collection of Disease Vector Resources (2016-2018)¡± has been initiated for mosquitoes, which are known as the most significant vector of pathogens. Mosquitoes were collected on a national scale, and selected vectors were stored through three different preservation methods of drying, freezing, and immerging for standard bio-resources. A database system which provides all information on vector resources is under development. 3,760 individuals of mosquito resources belonging to 29 species in seven genera were collected from 18 different regions in Korea in 2016.

CONCLUSION: This result is a mid-term report based on the results of the first year. We expect that the three-year result of this study could be used for various researches related to vector-borne diseases in Korea.
